Getting Started

  • Leader: Take a few minutes to open with Prayer. Ask the Lord to help everyone engage, listen and be respectful of all in the room. It might be wise to remind them to stay on topic, keep the conversation as a group, shut thy mouth and listen etc…
  • “Have you ever thought about the safety of people who are LGBTQ+ in our community or schools? Would some one care to share your thoughts?
  • “Do you feel you can freely advocate for the safe treatment of people who are LGBTQ+? What challenges and opportunities do you see?

Digging In

  • “What does it mean to be a bearer of God’s image as it pertains to our unique sexual orientations and gender identities?”
  • What are some ways you have experienced gender stereotypes in a negative way? Would you say there are aspects of you that don’t fit neatly into the cultural stereotypes of masculine or feminine? Does that effect you negatively? Positively?
  • What is the most confusing aspect about what we talked about tonight? why?

Discuss

  • What responses or questions float to the surface about the following question, If someone experiences incongruence between their biological sex and their internal sense of self – which one determines who they are?
  • What do you think is contributing to the rise in teenagers identifying with something other than their biological sex?
  • Love Changes the World. As a group what might be some ways to love the LGBTQ+ community?

Prayer

  • Pray for one another. Break up into 2/3’s if applicable
