Gettting Started

  • “Your house is on fire, and everyone is safe. You have 30 seconds to run through the house and collect three or four articles you want to save. What would you grab? Why?”
  • If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
  • if you could talk to anyone in the world (alive or dead), who would it be? Why?
  • If you could wish one thing and have it come true this year, what would it be? Why?

Digging In

Read 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
  • What is your understanding of God-breathed? Describe this idea to the group? (Leader Hint: God is the source of all Scripture. It comes from God)
  • In what ways has the Bible equipped you?
  • How has the Bible helped you in your walk with Jesus?

Encrouge Your Students to

Maybe ask (in a curious way) how often they read the Scriptures. Not to make them feel guilty but just to get an idea…Then maybe offer a loving challenge to the group about making the Bible part of their daily practice/rhythm. Maybe the group could agree to read a Proverb a day, or a verse or passage or chapter a day in one of the Gospels. etc. This might be a great opportunity to help them/remind them to be “with” Jesus by engaging his word and making TIME WITH JESUS a priority.

Discuss

  • The Bible is True. Agree, Disagree, Why?

  • The Bible is not a “how-to guide” but a Book of Wisdom Agree, Disagree, Why?

Prayer

Tonight focus on prayers of Thankfulness. If appropriate have each student think of something they are thankful for. Then go around the circle and have each student finish this prayer, Lord Jesus I am thankful for…
